Quotes from members

I will plan my lessons more effectively and assess my students more carefully in future, this ‘Recording Pupils Progress’ training was very useful.

Devasted that Luljeta Nuzi has died after a long fight with cancer. An incredible, dynamic, fierce woman whose optimism and passion for equality for all, in education, as women, as members of refugee and global majority communities will remain an inspiration for those who met her. I first met Luljeta in 2009 when she came […]

Advanced Level Quality Mark standards

An Advanced Level Quality Mark for Supplementary Education shows that the setting provides a well-organised learning environment with teaching, record keeping and resources that support children’s and young people’s achievement and raise their self-esteem.

The film below shows the recognition meeting process for advanced quality assurance. There are some changes in the way the meeting is run for recognition of the Advanced Quality Mark but the process is largely the same.

If you have completed minimum safeguarding standards and/or an YPF | NRCSE Management Course and are ready to be quality assured, please upload your mentor’s witness statement here .

We have templates/examples for you to consider when developing your evidence file. If you have a great piece of evidence which you would like to share please contact mon@ypftrust.org.uk and do what Sree Bharathalaya have done – download their tutor feedback and comments. To gain the Foundation Quality Mark you need to have completed the your local safeguarding requirements, been visited by a local mentor and submit a management file.

To achieve the Advance Quality Mark you will build on Foundation and provide physical evidence in your portfolio of your adherence to the five standards below. A Quality Mark mentor will visit your school and compile a statement detailing what s/he saw of teaching and learning and other good practice in your setting.

Standards

1. The supplementary school or other out-of-school setting has created a well organised and inclusive environment in which everyone can work comfortably. There are clear expectations of behaviour that fosters good relationships and supports learning.
2. Teachers know what children have previously learned and have guidelines on what to teach. They teach effectively and creatively using a range of appropriate resources.
3. The organisation consults with its pupils, respects children’s rights and the voices of children are promoted.
4. Staff are recruited openly and fairly, they are given the support and supervision they need to work. Equality and safeguarding are embedded throughout the engagement process whether staff are paid or volunteers.
5. The school has clear aims, makes plans and keeps them under review. The supplementary school regularly consults with parents and develops its programme accordingly. Finances are accounted for openly.
For more guidance on how to make a self-assessment and complete your portfolio, log in and head to the standards download page.

What Supplementary Schools tell about us

I want to thank you again for your patient encouragement for us to apply for the Quality Mark. It has been a lot of extra effort when we didn’t think we had time, but now definitely worth it to reach this stage – so thank you from all of us.
