Parent Ambassador train-the-trainer course

Deliver the OCNWMR Accredited Programme Becoming a Parent Ambassador

Parent ambassadors are employed by mainstream schools to:

  • facilitate effective communication between parents, families and school
  • support the successful induction and inclusion of pupils and students
  • aid the integration of parents and families through engagement with schools and signpost other services e.g. ESOL, supplementary schools
  • enhance the understanding of school staff regarding the challenges faced by new communities

The  Becoming a Parent Ambassador course prepares parent ambassadors for this work

Train-the-trainer course content:
– Overview of the success of the Parent Ambassador programme
– The contribution of parent ambassadors to children’s progress
– Responsibilities of the school in supporting the parent ambassador role
– The rationale for the Becoming a Parent Ambassador programme
– Delivery of the course including the scheme of work, lesson plans and assessments
– Management of the course accreditation with OCN

Criteria: Trainers should have prior experience of training adults and hold L3 Education & Training/PTLLS/DTLLS (or equivalent), or they should have experience of teaching in schools. They must have an understanding of the role of parents and community in supporting children’s education and welfare.

Cost: £350 including a full set of resources. Those trainers who have completed NRCSE train-the-trainer for the Effective Teaching Skills course are eligible for the discounted price of £280. Lunch will not be provided although there is a café at the centre
