Safeguarding Children

This course provides practical tools and knowledge about safeguarding. It includes a very practical Safe Network resource pack and DVD, and guidance on how to apply the Safe Network standards to your school. This is a general safeguarding course for staff and management committee members. Your designated safeguarding lead person must still attend child protection training with your local safeguarding children board.

Discounted places for NRCSE subscribers and quality assured supplementary schools. Go to our online shop to book your place.

It aims to offer a simple step by step approach to developing and acting on a plan for putting safeguards in place. Safe Network describes this as a pathway to safe practice.

We will follow the 9 steps.

Step 1: Check it out

Check what you have in place and what you need to put in place.

Step 2: Who is taking the lead?

The role of the named person.

Step 3: Getting support

Make sure that everyone understands why it is important to develop safeguards.

Step 4: Writing a child protection policy

Why you need a policy and what needs to be in it.

Step 5: Writing procedures

Write your safeguarding procedures.

Step 6: Code of behaviour for everyone.

Step 7: Employing the right people.

Step 8: Get informed: important topics about keeping children safe.

Your knowledge will keep children safe- keep yourself informed!

Step 9: Making it all work

What should you do to make sure your safeguards work?
