Paediatric First Aid Course

In response to popular demand we have arranged to run the two-day paediatric first aid course. This course is a requirement for Ofsted Childcare providers and essential for supplementary schools offering sessions for children under 8 years.

The course is provided by Safety First Consultants (London) Ltd. We pay them to come in and cannot offer any further discount on the fee. Any places left unbooked on 3 January will be offered out to non-members at £180 per place. On completion of both days learners will receive a certificate valid for three years and approved in accordance with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations.

DAY ONE

• What is First Aid,
• H&S Acts & Regs,
• First Aid Kits/ contents,
• Accident/ incident  reporting,
• Preventing cross infection,
• Responsibilities,
• Getting help,
• Management of the unconscious casualty,
• Primary Survey,
• CPR child and infant,
• Secondary survey,
• Recovery position,
• Communicating with the casualty,
• Signs and symptoms,
• Airway obstruction/choking,
• Croup,
• Asthma,
• Infectious diseases.

DAY TWO

• Anaphylactic shock,
• Bit and stings,
• Shock,
• Fractures/dislocations/ soft tissues injuries,
• Spinal injuries,
• Wounds,
• Bleeding,
• Nosebleeds/ eye injuries,
• Foreign Bodies,
• Bandages,
• Head injuries,
• Burns,
• Poisoning,
• Medical conditions…Diabetes, Epilepsy, Sickle-cell anaemia.
